Ethan Hawke largely kept smaller independent flicks for the latter part of his career, so it came as a shock to many when it was announced that the Oscar-nominated actor had joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Hawk fans finally realized this desire earlier this year when the actor debuted as Arthur Harrow’s villain. moon knightan original character he helped develop alongside the show’s filmmakers.
A big reason why Hawke joined the MCU comes from his daughter, the superstar of Netflix Weird things. According to Ethan, his daughter was the one who convinced him to join the Marvel universe and make it his own.
“Maya was telling me, ‘Why are you sitting outside telling everyone their sand is bad?'” Why not go to their sandbox, play with them, and show them what you have to offer? He said in a recent interview with Indiewire. I said to Oscar Isaac, ‘We should play in the Marvel sandbox and try to do what we’re doing. We don’t have to change Marvel. Although Hawk admitted in the same interview that he made sure not to sign a long-term deal with Marvel Studios, he has previously suggested that he doesn’t think his character has concluded his character’s arc.
“The good news is that they are likely to be both,” Hawke said. IGN ahead of the Moon Knight premiere in March. “It lives and breathes to its own merits, it works as a limited series – and if people get involved and enthusiastic about it, it could be the original story for something bigger.”
